That Single Question

For who knows how many years,
People have been pondering,
Asking themselves that single question,
What is the purpose of my life?

From when I was a small child,
I always knew what I wanted to do,
I was going to be an artist, and share my art with the world.
Never once did I ask myself that single question.

But as I’ve been growing older,
I’ve become unsure of myself,
Unsure of what I wanted to do.
Then that single question began crossing my mind.

With teachers pushing me to do well in your exams,
With parents berating me to study hard,
With all this pressure, I’ve began to unravel,
And now I’ve begun to ask myself that question everyday.

About the Author

Muirinn Larkin

I love to write, draw and take photos. I also enjoy playing video games and watching anime. (I'm a bit of a nerd, hehe). I decided to write this poem for the site, because I was very frustrated about the problems going on in my life and I thought that if I shared my poem, people could relate to it.
